Water Filtration terms and acronyms
GAC
Granular Activated Carbon is one of the most common and effective forms of carbon and has a huge surface area (approx. 500,000 square meters in the 10” Jumbo cartridge – eg. a spoonful equates to the area of a Rugby field) which adsorbs hazardous contaminants from water and air. KP Water use the best quality coconut GAC in their filter cartridges to remove chlorine, chlorine by-products, pesticides and many other contaminants.
KDF
A copper-zinc alloy filtration media that removes a wide range of active heavy metals, including zinc, copper, lead and mercury etc. It also protects Carbon against fouling by bacterial and microorganism growth, thus extending the working life of the GAC media.
KP Water Virtual Ioniser
Our customers have installed this system in many cities and towns in New Zealand – some calcium affected and some silica affected. These customers have discovered that the water appears to feel softer and they do not have as much problem with the calcium and silica scale as they previously had.
The KP Water ‘Ioniser’ uses a powerful magnetic focused field that appears to change the physical characteristics of the calcium and silica deposits. These deposits are throughout NZ.
Sediment
The sediment filter is the first line of defence and removes the majority of the impurities. It does not remove chlorine which is the next filters job. We supply a high quality multi-stage 20 to 1 micron sediment filter manufactured in Taiwan which has high pressure tolerance.
